It fascinates me that fiction authors really never know which, if any, of the established “review houses” will actually review their work. You send in the bound galley proofs to a couple of dozen houses, cross your fingers, and then…wait…and wait…and wait some more. Either the reviews show up unannounced…or they don’t. And the review houses will never give you a simple “yes” or a “no” that they are actually reading your darn book. Torturous.

I just received my first “Review House” critique of Emeralds of the Alhambra by Jani Brooks for Romance Reviews Today (http://www.romrevtoday.com/).

Her review will post there upon release (June 15), and is parked on Goodreads until then. Curious what she thought? Take a look:

Great to get reviews from the “review houses,” but as soon as this fabulous book reaches the book shelves and book clubs begin avidly reading Emeralds of the Alhambra, the reviews from a wide range of readers will abound on Facebook, book club sites, Amazon and more. Word of Mouth and Internet will allow you to uncross your fingers, relax and enjoy the lively discussions. I will be sure to mention to my book club that they definitely should read your blog—so full of fascinating information on the publishing process and additional historical background for Emeralds.
